She-figured Dance presents their second annual fundraiser, The Criss-Crossover Cabaret on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the Atlantic Connection in Oak Bluffs.  This year’s event boasts all the fun and surprises of last year’s Crossover Cabaret, but without the limitation of the audience and performers opting for drag characters only…this year everything goes!  Creative and comical, every festive expression, sweet or sassy is welcome.   The evening’s bill includes lip sync, comedy, and dance presented in cabaret style with a bit of burlesque flair and eyebrow-raising humor.

Hosted by Dave Sawyer, the evening presents a colorful kaleidoscope of famous personalities and diverse song selections.  Hair bands, disco divas, and lounge legends grace the stage along with old school rappers and theatre relics. Over the years the Vineyard has groomed many talented lip-syncing individuals, the Criss-Crossover Cabaret features a hilarious line up of winning acts, professional dancers, actors, and talented locals strutting their stuff in the spirit of the occasion. 

In addition to the stage performance, prizes will be awarded to the most creatively dressed audience members. After the show, a DJ dance party wraps up the evening with the cast and audience dancing the night away in true Vineyard spirit.

She-figured Dance is a professional modern dance company founded on Martha’s Vineyard by Jil Matrisciano, Julie Caranddo, and Serena Smith.  Since its inception in 2000, the company has grown to 11 members, been presented by Boston’s CRASHarts, Choreographer’s Group, and been recognized by DANCE Magazine, The Boston Herald, The Boston Globe and Vineyard Style Magazine.   As a result of this fundraiser, the company will present Bits of Leverage, their first full-length concert to Vineyard audiences at The Yard on October 15.  This performance had wonderful success earlier this past spring when presented to sold-out audiences in Boston.

Tickets for the Criss-Crossover Cabaret are $15 general admission or $40 for “Golden Circle” seating, which gives those audience members a private table, choice viewing of the show and table service.  Reservations for the Golden Circle are limited and can be reserved by calling 508.560.8306.  Doors open at 7:30pm.
